Man calls 911 because kids won't listen
A man called 911 because his kids wouldn't listen, he told the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputy who responded. He seemed intoxicated, the deputy noted in the report.
An hour later, the man's wife called 911 and said her husband was angry and calling the children "no good pieces of (expletive) kids." He also called his son a derogatory name and tried to punch him, the wife said.
An emergency injunction was obtained to protect the family. The man agreed to go to Bridgeway Detox Center, but on the way he began to spit and blow his nose on the seat in the back of the deputy's patrol car. He also screamed and called his wife a profane name until he passed out.
The deputy called and asked that EMS meet him at Bridgeway due to the amount of alcohol the man had ingested.
The case was referred to the Department of Children and Families.

Cable glitch switches religious program to racy "Girls Gone Wild" ad
A Philadelphia cable television network's early morning broadcast of a Good Friday service at the Vatican abruptly changed to something wildly different — a racy 30-second "Girls Gone Wild" ad.
Comcast spokesman Jeff Alexander says the 2 a.m. Friday programming glitch was due to a required test of the Emergency Alert System. He says such tests are usually done in the overnight hours.
The test automatically tunes viewers to a preselected channel that would provide information in the event of an emergency. But during tests, the channel airs regular programming, which in this case included a paid advertisement for the racy videos.

Channel 4 is leading a revival of figurative art by broadcasting life drawing classes featuring nude models on daytime television.
The new series will provide a counterbalance to the brash Britart movement popularized by Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin, but is likely to cause controversy among traditionalists by showing full-frontal male and female nudity well before the 9pm watershed.
Viewers will be able to sketch models from home, while an expert will appear in the corner of the screen during each programed to give technical advice. The five-part series, called Life Class: Today’s Nude, will be broadcast on consecutive days in July, before 6pm.
"Because it’s educational and non-sexualized nudity, Channel 4 didn’t have any concerns with it at all," said Alan Kane,
John Beyer, director of Mediawatch-UK, a viewing standards pressure group, claimed Channel 4 had "an obsession with sex and nudity".
However, John Whittingdale, the Tory chairman of the Commons culture select committee, said that, in principle, he would not object to nude life drawing classes before 9pm if they were in an "educational context" and avoided "gratuitous titillation."

A helicopter rescue team were scrambled after screams were heard in a German forest - only to find a man laughing his head off at a new book.
A woman dialed for emergency help after she thought she could hear someone being tortured at the woodland near Elmstein, western Germany.
But 'victim' Roland Hofmann was astonished when armed police surrounded his car which he had driven into the forest and ordered him to give himself up and release his hostage.
He told police he had gone to the forest to read "in peace and quiet".
"We realize that people think the sound of Germans laughing is unusual, but we're sure the caller meant well," said one officer.

Woman Attacked by Polar Bear at Berlin Zoo

A woman has been mauled by a polar bear after jumping into its enclosure at Berlin Zoo. The intruder was attacked just yards away from Knut, the abandoned bear who became famous around the world.
Zookeepers managed to push the bear away and carry the woman from the cage.

The mauling took place inside an enclosure occupied by four polar bears not far from Knut's home.

Heiner Kloes, a Berlin Zoo spokesman, said the enclosure is surrounded by a fence, a line of prickly hedges and a wall.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police did not say why she jumped in with the bears.

"The woman has proved herself to be careless by jumping into the enclosure," a police spokesperson said."Logic tells us that polar bears will do this type of thing in this situation."

Last December, a man who later described himself as "lonely", jumped into the cage of the zoo's most famous polar bear.

But he emerged unscathed after zookeepers managed to distract Knut with beef.

The celebrity bear won the world's sympathy after being abandoned by his mother shortly after his birth.

A spokesman for the zoo said Knut, now two years and four months old, would never harm a human.

A Russian man survived after downing three bottles of vodka and leaping from a fifth floor balcony - twice.
Alexei Roskov says he jumped the second time because he couldn't take his wife's nagging about the first time.
Wife Yekaterina had watched in horror as her drunken hubsand opened the kitchen window of their Moscow apartment, and hurled himself out.
Astonishingly Mr Roskov, 22, survived and managed to stagger back upstairs with barely a scratch after the 50ft fall.
But while his wife called for an ambulance and began to scold him, he jumped again.
Amazed medics treated Mr Roskov for minor cuts and bruises before releasing him.
Mr Roskov says he is now teetotal after giving up drinking, and added: "Now I can say just one thing - I was very lucky.
"I have no idea why I jumped the first time but when I came back up and I heard my wife screaming angrily at me I thought it was best if I left the room again - out of the window."

'ILVTOFU' license plate rejected
The Colorado Department of Revenue rejected a woman's request for a license plate professing her love of tofu over concerns that it could be seen as obscene.
Officials said Kelley Coffman-Lee's request for a personalized plate with the phrase "ILVTOFU" was rejected due to concerns that it could be misread as "I-LV-TO-F-U."
"Tofu is a word, I haven't said anything bad. I think it's crazy they denied it," she said. "It's not a dirty, evil food. It's very wholesome."
Mark Couch, spokesman for Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles, defended the decision to reject the plate. "We're concerned about others who may misread the plate."

A man and woman accused of having sex in a Wal-Mart parking lot face a charge of crime against nature Wednesday.
According to arrest warrants and an affidavit, police stopped William Walter Stephens, 83, of 5601 Union Road, Gastonia, and Asia Marie Howard, 25, of 1032 West Airline Ave., Gastonia, as they were leaving the Wal-Mart on Myrtle School Road after receiving a report that the two were having sex in the brown Buick they were leaving in.
According to the affidavit, Howard told police that they were having sex and Stephens gave her $20 for oral sex.

Court fines mother for phoning son too much
An Austrian woman who bombarded her son with phone calls over a two-and-a-half year period was fined by a court for stalking him, Austrian media reported on Thursday.
The 73-year-old woman, who phoned her son up to 49 times a day was fined 360 euros (324 pounds) by the court in the southern city of Klagenfurt.
"I just wanted to talk to him," the woman told the court, according to Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung. "I can't talk to my son, nor my daughter. I've never seen my grandchild -- who is already 15-years-old," she said.
The case was brought by the son. The court did not release their names.

A 91-year-old male Chinese tailor is determined to continue making customized bras for his clients despite his advanced age and outdated designs.

"But my customers say if I stop, where will they be able to buy such bras? They wouldn't buy those bras from other stores."

Saudi man divorces wife by text message
A Saudi man has divorced his wife by text message, a newspaper said on Thursday.
The man was in Iraq when he sent the SMS informing her she was no longer his spouse. He followed up with a telephone call to two of his relatives, the daily Arab News reported.
A court in the Red Sea city of Jeddah finalized the split -- the first known divorce in Saudi Arabia by text message -- after summoning the two relatives to check they had received word of the husband's intention, the paper said.
Saudi Arabia practises a strict form of Islamic Sharia law, and clerics preside over Sharia courts as judges. Under the law a man can divorce his wife by saying "I divorce you" three times.
The Saudi man was in Iraq to participate in "what he described as 'jihad'," according to the Arab News. Many Saudis have gone to fight with al Qaeda militants against the Iraqi government and U.S. forces.

Job-hunters criticize 'demeaning' Easter egg hunt
Job-hunters have been asked to search for Easter eggs in the offices of a Job Center Plus contractor in London.
More than 150 unemployed people have been invited to look for 35 chocolate eggs hidden in the offices of the Skills Training Center UK in Southwark. Prizes include payment for a licence to work on building sites, vouchers to buy clothes for interview, and the chance to become a security guard.
But the egg hunt has been criticized by job-hunters, who see it as demeaning. According to Graham Barnes, who is looking for work, "Asking us to take part in an Easter egg hunt is humiliating. Some of us are not proud of signing on and this just rubs our face in it." Egg hunt organizer Catrina Lynch said of the event: "It is not meant in a demeaning way. It's going to be fun."

Police say man tortured girl after she found his porn
A Tampa, Florida man is behind bars after police say he tortured a 10-year-old relative because she found his stash of pornographic movies.
Tampa Police say they received an anonymous tip that 36-year-old Moslim Al Assadi tied the girl's hands behind her back and forced her into a partially filled bathtub where he dunked her head under water several times. The girl's siblings watched the incident. They said she turned blue while being dunked in the water.
Tampa police detectives along with child protection investigators went to the home Thursday and removed the victim and two other children.
Police say Al Assadi has been investigated on child abuse allegations two other times, but each time investigators cleared him of any wrongdoing. He is charged with aggravated child abuse.

A teacher's aide at a grammar school was seriously injured during a collision with an 8-year-old boy making a beeline for ice cream. Now the parents are being sued for damages because the aid, who needed spinal fusion surgery has been unable to return to work
A mad dash for ice cream at a Queens grammar school earned an 11-year-old boy more than a trip to the principal's office.
Rosanna Tomack, a former teacher's aide at PS 94 in Little Neck, is hauling little Joseph Cicack into court after the youngster barreled into her and knocked her down, injuring her bad back, according to a lawsuit filed in Queens Supreme Court.
Joseph, about 8 at the time of the May 2006 incident, is above the age when a child can be sued, said Edmond Chakmakian, Tomack's lawyer.
"It's a legitimate case," Chakmakian said. "It's not silly."
He said that the kids were specifically told not to run for ice cream, but that Joseph didn't follow the rules.

Police Arrest Man in Fishnet Tights
Lincoln police arrested a man in pink fishnet tights and woman's clothing after he tried to run from them.
Officer Katie Flood said police received a 911 call Saturday afternoon from a woman who saw William Kaluf wearing provocative woman's clothing at Wilderness Park with a 23 month old child.
When officers arrived they found Kaluf wearing pink fishnet tights, a bra and a revealing woman's top. Flood said he had his 23 month old son with him and pornography magazines and videos in his car.
While talking with Kaluf, officers found out he had a warrant for his arrest for driving under suspension and possession of stolen property but when they confronted him Flood said he drove away.
Officers followed him in a low speed chase, following all traffic laws to his home at 2901 S. 14th where they arrested him for driving under suspension, no proof of insurance, fleeing to avoid arrest, child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia for a pipe he had with him.

Roman police find sewer children
Italian police have found more than 100 immigrants, including 24 Afghan children, living in the sewer system beneath railway stations in Rome.
The children range in age from 10 to 15 years and are now being looked after by the city's social services. They were found when the railway police followed up reports of children living near the city's stations.
The police say they do not speak Italian and broke into the sewers by removing manhole covers.
The charity Save the Children Italy says that more than 1,000 unaccompanied children arrived in Rome last year from various countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Railway police had been following up reports that groups of homeless immigrants were living in unhygienic conditions in and around Rome's three main railway stations.
Police said the Afghan children appeared to have arrived in the Italian capital as stowaways on board trailer trucks arriving from Turkey and Greece.

Sperm bank denies 'helping hand' rumor
Shanghai Sperm Bank has been forced to issue a statement on its Website to clarify its procedures, after explicit photos circulated on the Internet, claiming to show female nurses helping men to "donate" at the sperm bank.
"These pictures are completely misleading," said Li Jin, a hospital official. "We never have female nurses assisting in sperm collection, which is done by the donor himself, alone in a special room. To protect donor's privacy, no one is allowed to take pictures or shoot videos in the sperm bank."

Dispute Over Urinating Dog
An emergency call that brought two Pittsburgh Police Officers to a home where they were ambushed, and where a third was also killed later during a four-hour siege, was precipitated by a fight between the gunman and his mother over a dog urinating in the house.
The Saturday argument between Margaret and Richard Poplawski escalated to the point that she threatened to kick him out and she called police to do it, according to a 12-page criminal complaint and affidavit filed late Saturday.
When officers Paul Sciullo II and Stephen Mayhle arrived, Margaret Poplawski opened the door and told them to come in and take her 23-year-old son, apparently unaware he was standing behind her with a rifle, the affidavit said. Hearing gunshots, she spun around to see her son with the gun and ran to the basement.
"What the hell have you done?" she shouted.
The mother told police her son had been stockpiling guns and ammunition "because he believed that as a result of economic collapse, the police were no longer able to protect society," the affidavit said.

Kids Told to Shout Obscenities in 'Swearing Lesson'

A British school was blasted Friday after kids as young as 11 were told to shout obscenities during a lesson in swearing.
Expletives like the f-word p-word and t-word were written on a blackboard before a teacher explained their meaning to 30 seventh graders.
St. Laurence School in Bradford on Avon, Wilts, claims it was part of a sex and relationship education program to "dispel" the myths of swear words.
But parents say they were not consulted by head James Colquhoun about the class and say kids were left "deeply upset."
One parent said: "This is a total disgrace. Our children go to school to gain an education, not qualifications in swear words. Most kids had no idea what the words meant and were forced to grow up faster than their parents want. Heads should roll for this."
Some pupils claim the teacher told them not to tell parents about the lesson.
Deputy head Richard Clutterbuck said Friday night: "This lesson should not have focused on the slang terms. I must apologize for any distress caused."
Wilts County Council said it is the governors’ responsibility to decide specifics of sex education lessons.
In February 10-year-olds at a church primary school who were told to write the crudest words they knew to "analyze bullying insults."

We all love hearing about stupid criminals. And you can't get any dumber than this family!
Matthew Eaton and his wife, Laura, must have thought they were some smart thieves. In fact, they even went on the Dr. Phil show last November to brag about it!!!!!!!
The Eatons, from San Marcos, California, went on national television to brag about making over $100,000 by shoplifting and then selling the shit on eBay.
Well, the imbecilic family is now under investigation by federal agents.
Oh, and on the show they even included a video showing them and their three young children on a three-day shoplifting excursion.
They told Dr. Phil how in just one week they made $3,500 just from selling stolen toys, adding that the thefts were "easy money."
And according to the show, they've been stealing for about six years now.
The couple finally got caught last week by the Secret Service and members of the San Diego Regional Fraud Task Force who searched their home and seized several of their belongings.
As of yet, the Eatons haven't been arrested or charged, but they have hired an attorney to represent them. Unfortunately their attorney from the United Defense Group in Los Angeles has decided not to comment on the case.

A court in Poland has awarded just over $500,000 (£339,000) in damages to the families of three women mistakenly switched at birth by hospital staff. Two of the women are identical twins who grew up in separate families because of the mix-up.
The mistake was only discovered 17 years later after a chance meeting in the Polish capital, Warsaw.
In 1984, two-week-old identical twins Kasia and Nina were taken to a Warsaw hospital with pneumonia. While they were there staff mistakenly switched Nina with another girl, Adita.
Afterwards doctors told the twins' parents they were not identical as first thought and so when the girls grew up nobody realised the mistake.
It was only 17 years later that Kasia was told by a friend that she was the double of another girl who lived across town. Kasia arranged to meet her double and the pair discovered that not only did they share the same birthday, that they had similar birth marks and tastes.
Later, DNA tests confirmed the discovery. It came as a shock to both families and has taken a heavy toll on everyone involved, especially the twins' mother.

Police issue traffic ticket for over $37,000
A police captain in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley said it's the highest fine he's ever seen on a traffic ticket: $37,554.54. Bethlehem Police Capt. David Kravatz said the major violation was not getting the "super load" permit that was needed because the truck was hauling a 213,000-pound steel cylinder. Police cited the driver and truck owner.
Kravatz said the truck sat idle for almost three weeks after it tipped on March 12 because a new route, proper permits and a police escort took so long to plan.

Police in Jacksonville, Florida arrested a woman for making false calls to 911.
Martha Crooks told police she called 911 to say she's unhappy with where she's living and wanted a ride to jail or the hospital.
Police told her if she needed to move she could call a taxi, and that 911 is just for emergencies.
Crooks told police she'd just call 911 again, and she did, so officers took her to jail.
Crooks has been arrested before for abusing the 911 system.

Woman accused of driving 103 mph worked for DMV
A Salem Oregon woman accused of driving 103 mph with her 10-year-old grandson was on leave from a job at the state Driver and Motor Vehicle Services. The 53-year-old driver was arrested Sunday on charges of reckless driving and reckless endangering. Investigators said she told them she was teaching her grandson about the dangers of speeding, telling him not to drive as she was about to.
David House, an Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman, told the Salem Statesman Journal that the woman joined the DMV in 1988 and was placed on leave March 16.
The agency would not give a reason for her leave. House could not say how her arrest will affect her employment.

A 14-year-old girl was found unconscious last night in just her bra and panties in Fairmount Park, police said.
Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives said a jogger found the girl on Martin Luther King Drive near Falls Bridge about 9 p.m. The jogger, Kyle Lawdadio, of Manayunk, flagged down a motorist, who called 9-1-1. Walker said the girl was unresponsive until medics arrived, then briefly regained consciousness.
She was listed in stable condition in Temple University Hospital, where doctors were trying to determine if she had been sexually assaulted.
Clothes found in the park belong to her and have been taken to a crime lab. according to investigators.
The 14-year old was curled up in the fetal position with only a bra and panties on when the jogger spotted her along Martin Luther King Drive near the Falls Bridge.
"She was passed out completely, so I just flagged down a car and we tried to, you know, get her up and she started talking a little bit, but not much," said Kyle Laudadio.
The girl was rushed to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. The teen would only tell doctors that she had a headache. When police were questioning her last night they said she kept falling in and out of consciousness.

Just ask Lyndel Toppin's fiancé, whose middle finger was almost chopped off when Toppin allegedly attacked her with a kitchen knife, according to Upper Darby police.
The reason for the assault, was a poorly made meatball sandwich. Specifically, the cheese placement was all wrong, which infuriated Toppin.

114-year-old man, caught with 6.5 tons of pot
Nigeria's anti-narcotics agency confiscated six and a half tons of marijuana from the home of a man who claimed to be 114-years-old.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said it had found 254 sacks of cannabis at the home of Sulaiman Adebayo in Ogun state, north of Lagos.
Mr Adebayo claimed to have attended the inauguration of a famous hall in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, in 1895 as a small boy, and said he was 114 years old.
There was no independent confirmation of his age, reports Metro.
Mr Adebayo, who said he had been a farmer all his life, told police he thought the sacks contained rice.

A Chinese farmer was shocked when one of his new piglets was born with three eyes and two mouths.
The piglet was among eight newborn piglets at Liu Dingsheng's farm in Chongren County, Zhejiang province.
"We were shocked to see such a weird looking creature," said Liu, "I don't really know what to do with it."
Liu told People's Daily that the mother was a four-year-old sow which was completely healthy and normal.
A local vet said the abnormality may have been caused by genetic mutation or feed pollution.

Teen charged with burning a mans penis
A teenager from Ferndale Michigan has been charged with lighting an unconscious man's pants on fire and causing a third-degree burn to the man's groin, police said Monday.
Tyler Quick, 18, was arraigned Friday on a charge of assault, according to police in the Detroit suburb of Ferndale, Michigan.
Lt. William Wilson told The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak that Quick was attending a party at the home of a 51-year-old man when the host passed out.
Police said Quick placed a lit candle under the man's crotch, setting fire to his pants. The man awoke and extinguished the fire.
A police lieutenant said Quick thought it would be funny to burn the victim.
Authorities said Quick is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Rusty bombs lay under family's home for 20 years

A Chinese family has discovered it has been living above a stockpile of 38 rusting bombs for the last 20 years.
The family, who live in Malipo town, had long wondered why magnets were so strongly attracted to an area under their hallway, reports the Chuncheng Evening Post.
Wang Hexiong said his father first discovered the phenomenon and declared the area holy as he believed the family's ancestors lay beneath.
"My father once dropped a magnetic ball onto the ground, and it stopped completely when it rolled to the center of the hall," he said.
"He stopped any of us from walking through this holy square in the house to avoid disturbing our ancestors."
But the family finally told their secret to a visiting police officer who had demanded to know why they refused to let him walk through the hallway.
A police team dug underneath the floor of the house - and found 38 rusted bombs which are believed to date back to the Second World War.
Wang added: "The family feel really lucky because we have been living on top of an arsenal of bombs for all these years and nobody has been hurt."

Journalists ringing in to a White House conference call with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton apparently found themselves connected to a sex line.
The reporters were expecting to hear Mrs Clinton and National Security Adviser Jim Jones on the other end of the phone discussing foreign policy and security threats.
Instead they were greeted by a woman's voice asking: "Do you have any hidden desires?
"If you feel like getting nasty, then you came to the right place," the recorded message continued.
Asked about how the mistake had been made, White House spokesman Thomas Vietor said: "Lots of important issues to cover today!"
He went on: "I haven't dialed whatever number you're referencing. Please call such numbers on your free time!"
The White House has since blamed the bungle on an aide who apparently mistyped the US 800 free number.

Cereal box typo sends callers to phone sex line
An Oregon company has ordered new packaging for its Peace Cereal after a typo on the box sent callers to a phone sex line instead of the cereal maker's 800 number. Instead of reaching Golden Temple of Oregon, callers were greeted by a recorded voice asking, "Do you love sex? ... Isn't that why you called?"
Spokeswoman Elissa Brown said Eugene, Ore.-based Golden Temple ordered new packaging when the mistake was discovered in December and new boxes have been shipping out for weeks.
However, 13 varieties of the cereal were on shelves Wednesday at one Halfway, Md., grocery store, including seven varieties in boxes bearing the incorrect telephone number.

Mother Drugs Daughter in Attempt to Get Her Pregnant
Police in Uniontown say a western Pennsylvania mother drugged her 13-year-old daughter so her boyfriend could get the girl pregnant.
Uniontown police say 32-year-old Shana Brown is no longer able to have children, but wanted a baby with her boyfriend.
Det. Donald Gmitter says Brown and her boyfriend, 40-year-old Duane Calloway, attempted to impregnate the girl on three occasions. Gmitter says the girl prevented the rapes. The girl's paternal grandmother reported the incidents to police.
Brown is facing several charges, including endangering the welfare of children. Brown's attorney Patrick McDaniel did not immediately return a call for comment.
Calloway faces charges of attempted rape.

A German woman has divorced her husband because she was fed up with him cleaning all the time.
German media reported the wife got through 15 years of marriage putting up with the man's penchant for doing household chores, tidying up and rearranging the furniture.
But she ran out of patience when he knocked down and rebuilt a wall at their home when it got dirty, Christian Kropp, court judge in the central town of Sondershausen, said Thursday.
"I'd never had anyone seek a divorce for this," he said.

Dobberstein says Webb stopped at the home of an acquaintance in Fortuna on Wednesday night and the acquaintance called police because Webb appeared to be driving drunk.
When police arrived, Webb sped away without the girl.
The 42-year-old Everett man is accused of robbing an AM-PM mini-mart of $200 early Tuesday while his daughter watched.
Dobberstein says the girl is OK and waiting for her mother.

German man found up tree, 29 years after suicide
Landshut, Germany - A man who climbed a spruce tree, tied himself to the trunk and shot himself dead has been discovered 29 years after the suicide, German police said Thursday. "It looks as if he meant to never be found again," said a police spokesman in Landshut, north-east of Munich, where a man exploring steep forest discovered human bones on the ground.
Police then found the rest of the skeleton tied in a thicket of branches 11 meters above ground level with a gun next to it. The victim was 69 when he vanished in the summer of 1980.

Man Buys Old House, Socked With $43,000 Water Bill
A Highland Park man who got a $43,000 water bill from the city insists it's impossible for him to have used that much water.
"First of all, I thought it was a joke. It seems like it's an outrageous amount," Wayne Chang told Call 4 Action reporter Aaron Saykin.
Two years ago, Chang bought a boarded-up home from the city and began restoring it, until he got a bill last April claiming he had used more than 4 million gallons of water.
"Basically, the water has not been turned on. There's no fixtures, no plumbing," Chang said.
Although he immediately disputed the bill, Chang couldn't get anyone from the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority to explain what happened.
What he did get was a new bill two weeks ago for nearly $51,000 with interest and penalties.
The water authority told Call 4 Action that for at least five years, it only took estimates and never an actual meter reading from the boarded-up home.
When Chang bought the house, the authority took a real meter reading. So it's possible the authority was billing him for usage from years ago.

Woman glues her eye shut
A woman glued her eye shut after she mistook a bottle of nail glue for eye drops.
Paula Griffin, 29, woke with blurred vision and mistakenly squirted the hazardous substance into her right eye, gluing it shut for eight hours.
Eye specialists at Bournemouth Hospital in Dorset cut off her lashes to pride it open again and warned her she could lose her sight.
The company secretary, from Bournemouth, revealed she was still sleepy when she grabbed the bottle from the bathroom shelf.
"By the time I realized what had happened, it was too late and I couldn’t dodge the liquid completely," she said.
"I managed to stop it hitting the center of the eye, and doctors told me later that it saved me from permanent damage."
She said it was agonizing and burning so she shut her eye when her eyelashes became stuck together.
Doctors gave her paraffin to help dissolve the glue and she had to take a week off work.
She has a cut across her eyeball and now she wears false eyelashes.

Surveillance video caught one of two burglars in action as he tried to break down a door with his body.
The burglars were trying to break into a home on 36 Ave. North in St. Petersburg Florida by prying open a back door with a crow bar.
When that didn't work, one of the burglars backed up to the fence in the yard, took a "football stance" and ran toward the door. The burglar hit the door, bounced off it, landed on the ground and began rolling around in obvious pain.
After these burglary attempts failed, the suspects threw a brick through a window and entered the home. Once inside, the suspects set off the alarm and then fled. Nothing was taken from the residence.

Woman follows G.P.S., gets stuck in snowmobile trail
A motorist in Langlade, Wisconsin was relying on a G.P.S. navigation unit found out the hard way that technology is not always the answer. Sheriff's officials said a woman was driving when the best routing from the G.P.S. sent her onto a road that forked into a snowmobile trail. Several miles down the frozen path she stopped and couldn't turn around in about a foot and a half of snow surrounding the car.
She called 911 at 10:44 a.m.
Deputy Keith Svoboda said it took a while to find her and much longer to get heavy equipment in to free the vehicle. Deputies dropped her at a motel for the night.
Svoboda said the lesson is, "People shouldn't believe everything those things tell you."

12-year-old boy, accused of driving car into cruiser
Authorities in Ripley, West Virginia arrested a 12-year-old boy who allegedly drove his mother's car and crashed into a police cruiser on Interstate 77. State Police Sgt. S.E. Wolfe said the boy's mother reported her car missing at 7:54 a.m. Wednesday from her home.
Wolfe says Jackson County sheriff's deputies and a Ripley police officer tried to intercept the car after it was spotted on I-77. The car struck the Ripley cruiser on the driver's side, doing minimal damage, before hitting a guard rail and cable barriers in the median.
A juvenile court petition filed in Jackson County charged the boy with fleeing, joyriding and destruction of property. The boy was released to the custody of his parents on Wednesday afternoon.

Man cries after attempt to rob liquor store fails
Police in Trenton New Jersey said a 19-year-old who tried to rob a liquor store sat down and cried after 76-year-old owner locked him in the store. The man was accused of trying to rob Sykes Liquor Store in Trenton Monday night. Police said the owner, who was behind the counter, triggered the lock after the man grabbed a bottle of Hennessy cognac and bolted for the door.
The man then allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded to be released. But the owner said he saw that the gun was a fake, refused to unlock the door and called police.
Police said the suspect threw away the gun, slumped to the floor and was crying when officers arrived to arrest him.

One Size Fits All
Police in Allendale, South Carolina, are investigating whether a funeral home fit a 6-foot, 5-inch man into his coffin by severing his legs.
A former Cave Funeral Services employee has alleged since James Hines' death from skin cancer in 2004 that Hines was too tall for his coffin and that the funeral home took extreme measures to make him fit.
Officials exhumed Hines' body Tuesday, Black said, and a fair amount of "undesirable evidence" was found, although he could not comment further.
The coroner's office handed the case over to law enforcement officials for a criminal investigation, he said.
Allendale Police Detective Donnie Hutto said that he could not comment on the condition of the body.
A Cave Funeral Services employee had no comment when asked about the matter.

A 911 dispatcher in Orlando, Florida had to tell a caller how to unlock her car on Sunday.
A woman called Kissimmee, Fla., police to say she was locked inside her car at a suburban drug store.
“My car will not start. I’m locked inside my car,” the unidentified woman said.
“Nothing electrical works. And it’s getting very hot in here, and I’m not feeling well.”
The dispatcher asked the woman if she was able to manually pull the lock up on the door.
The woman said she would try, and then, she said, “Yes, I got the door open.

”Germans get their first nudist-only hotel

The first nudist-only hotel is set to open in Germany's Black Forest.
Guests will be required to leave their clothes at reception and must be naked at all times when on the premises – "or they will be required to leave".
"We hope to open as soon as possible," Silvia Probsthain, a member of staff at the planned Hotel Rosengarten.
"It will be the first comprehensively nudist hotel in Germany."
The rules state that all guests must put towels on chairs and loungers before using them, that there be no sexual harassment and that all sexual activity in "commonly accessible rooms" is strictly forbidden.

The hotel is being built in Freudenstadt, which translates into "Town of Joys".

'Sorry' Note Left Near Texas Hit-and-Run Victim

Police in League City, Texas, say a hit-and-run driver in a fatal crash apparently left a note expressing remorse near the victim's body.

An investigator who asked to be identified only as Detective Aldridge said Tuesday that no arrests have been made in the death of 34-year-old Maurice Jones.

The note was scribbled on paper from a spiral notebook. Aldridge says the note may have been written by a woman but he declined to reveal more details.

Jones' body was discovered in a ditch Sunday morning, hours after he got off work at a fast-food restaurant and was walking home.

League City is about 25 miles southeast of Houston.

Orlando police Chief Val Demings lost her gun in a burglary of her city vehicle.
The theft happened weeks ago, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, but did not become public until late Tuesday.
The 9mm Sig Sauer pistol was stolen the night of Feb. 27 and discovered the next morning. The weapon was left in a duffel bag inside her agency sport utility vehicle, which she parked outside the home she and her husband, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings, share in an unincorporated area of the county.
"I never leave my gun in the car, but I did that night because we were expecting guests for the weekend and they had young children," Demings said. "We are allowed to store our [weapons] in the trunk or passenger compartment as long as they are out of plain view. It was clearly out of plain view."

Police said a customer fired one or two shots into a Salt Lake City McDonald's after the driver of the car he was in was told the restaurant was not serving lunch yet.
Police said the female driver of a white Dodge Intrepid pulled up to the drive-thru and ordered from the lunch menu early Sunday but was told only breakfast was available.
Police said two men then got out of the car and one pulled a sawed-off shotgun from the trunk, shooting into the drive-thru window once or twice. No one was injured.

A Polish MP who failed a drink-driving test said he had eaten too many apples, the website of daily Gazeta Wyborcza said today.
Asked why a traffic police check yesterday showed he had 0.7 units of alcohol in his blood, Marek Latas denied having drunk alcohol that day.
"I am diabetic, I ate a few apples before driving.
"I have been involved in no accident, I underwent a routine roadside check. I was confident there was no chance I had alcohol in my blood," said Latas.
The prosecutor's office is investigating his case, the website said. In Poland, the legal limit for alcohol when driving is 0.2 units. Fermented apple juice can be used to make cider, a low alcoholic drink.

The horticulture undergraduate sent it to Aberglasney Gardens, Carmarthenshire, instead of the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
A manager at Aberglasney replied: "It may be prudent to change your email address. It could have a detrimental effect on any career aspirations of working in Wales."
James, a student at Pershore Agricultural College in Warwickshire, said: "I feel a right fool."

A retired police chief says he was robbed by probably the dumbest criminal in Pennsylvania. It happened Friday morning at police officers' convention near Harrisburg PA., where 300 narcotics officers from Pennsylvania and Ohio were gathered. John Comparetto says as he came out of a stall in the men's room, a man pointed a gun at his face and demanded money. Comparetto gave up his money and cellphone.
But when the man fled, Comparetto and some colleagues chased him.
They arrested 19-year-old Jerome Marquis Blanchett of Harrisburg as he was trying to leave in a taxi.
